| Jaco H. Festekjian, M.D., FACS, joined the UCLA Department of Surgery after completing his Plastic Surgery training at Indiana University and his Advanced Aesthetic and Microsurgery Fellowship at The Mayo Clinic, and was appointed Associate Professor in the UCLA Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Professional memberships include the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Plastic Surgery, the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery, and the California Society of Plastic Surgery. |
| As a microsurgeon, Dr. Festekjian has a keen interest in aesthetic reconstruction with specific interest in comprehensive breast reconstruction, including, free DIEP flap, SIEA flap, and muscle sparing TRAM flap microsurgical breast reconstruction. Dr. Festekjian is an In-Network provider for all PPO insurance plans, UCLA Medical Group HMO, and other HMO plans. Free flap microsurgical breast reconstruction involves transferring a patient's own tissues at the time of mastectomy, or after mastectomy, with no muscle loss is the most significant recent advancement in breast reconstruction. This new microsurgical technique requires special expertise and subspecialty training. UCLA Plastic Surgeons perform 200-250 of these procedures per year, which is among the highest number of microsurgical breast reconstructions performed anywhere in the nation with a 99 percent success rate. |
